Chalet Encombres – La Tête de Fer is our newest addition to our chalet portfolio for the 2021/22 winter season.

This traditional chalet apartment has an open-plan and spacious kitchen, living and dining area. There is a cozy lounge with comfortable leather sofas facing a log burner – Ideal to relax in front of a roaring fire after a long day on the 3 Valleys ski slopes!

The dining area has a large dining table that comfortably seats 6-8 people. Double doors open up onto a south-west facing balcony with breathtaking mountain views.

There are 3 bedrooms in total. One with a double bed and full en-suite bathroom and two with a double/twin set up and en-suite shower rooms. These two rooms share a WC located on the same floor.

All in all, this is an attractive new addition to the SC chalet portfolio for a family or small group of friends!

Location

Chalet Encombres – La Tête de Fer is located in the heart of the village, on a quiet residential road.

The drag lift and village ski slope is only 100 meters distance to the chalet – Less than a 2 minute walk from the chalet’s front door!

All resort amenities such as the 8-à-Huit supermarket, tourist office, the village’s best bar ‘Pourquoi Pas’ and several renowned restaurants are situated within a 100 meter radius from the chalet!

Nevertheless, you are just far enough away from the centre to be able to enjoy a quiet setting and beautiful mountain views!

Please be aware that your booking isn't confirmed until we have blocked the dates from our calendar and an email has been received from us.

After 72 hours you can either confirm and secure the booking by paying the 25% holiday deposit or the chalet / apartment will be made available again.

Our Concierge Service starts by helping you organise your ski holiday before you arrive in resort. From airport transfers to ski rental, lessons, passes & catering options.

Once you have arrived in resort we are available 24/7, whether it's to assist you with anything or simply answer any questions you may have! We live in resort, welcome all our guests personally into their chalet and make sure every single guest has the ski holiday experience he wished for!

Booking Terms

Please read our booking terms carefully and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions

  • Holiday payment terms:
    A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking.
    The balance is due 10 weeks prior arrival in resort.

  • Check-In: 5:00pm | Check-Out: 9.00am
    You can store your luggage in case of an earlier arrival / departure. Please let us know in advance.

  • Damage Deposit:
    It's the norm to charge a damage deposit on self-catered bookings. The amount depends on the size and standard of the property. You will find a list below.
    We will collect the damage deposit ideally prior arrival in resort and release it once we checked the property after your departure.

Please contact us if you cannot find your chalet on this list. A damage deposit may still be collected.


  • Extra person fee:
    Some of our properties have the option of increasing the capacity and adding extra people on a sofa or fold-out beds. In this case the charge for adding an extra person is 25% of the per person price (Listed price divided by total number of beds in the chalet). The minimum fee is €70 per extra person.

  • Cleaning / End-of-stay requirements:
    You will arrive to a fully cleaned property. In the event that you find it hasn't been cleaned properly on arrival please contact us immediately so we can rectify this as soon as possible.
    Before your departure we require you to:

- leave the apartment in a tidy and acceptable state
- remove all rubbish and recycling
- leave the kitchen, appliances and all contents clean, put kitchen items back in the cupboards as found, empty the dishwasher or drying rack before your departure
- wash, dry and clear away all dishes
- strip beds and put linen / towels in one pile
- sweep out fireplace
- return furniture as well as other items to their original position

If the chalet is not left according to the chalet check-out requirements, please be aware that an additional cleaning charge may apply and will therefore be taken off the security deposit.


  • Smoking & Animals:
    There is a strict no smoking policy in all of our chalets. Furthermore pets are not allowed unless permission is specifically requested and given at the time of booking and strict 'pet rules' apply.

All about COVID

Be rest assured when staying with 'SC-Saint Martin'


Here at 'SC-Saint Martin' we completely understand everyone's worries in relation to Covid. May it be about the virus still being around or returning during the winter season, or most importantly the potential concern for you and your family's health, which at the end of the day is our highest priority!

There will be necessary measures in place in resort this winter to keep everybody safe, such as wearing masks in ski lift queues and on the lifts. Of course, we cannot influence everything Covid-dependent, but what we can do is reassure you that we will be making your safety, health and comfort as our number one priority.

*UPDATE* 01/12/21

The situation as of the 1st December 2021...

As the current situation changes constantly we cannot promise that the information provided below is completely up-to-date and accurate. We urge you to contact your airline before traveling as well as check the government pages to ensure you have all documents required to enter the country.


TRAVELLING TO FRANCE:

It was announced on the 1st December that all travellers from outside of the EU, even those who are fully vaccinated, will now need a negative PCR test to enter France as well as to show proof of their vaccination. This applies from Saturday 4th of December.
- For fully vaccinated people the test has to be taken within 48 hours, otherwise the test has to be taken within 24 hours of arrival in France.

Please note that the UK government-advised 1 dose for teenagers is not considered as a full vaccination in France.

Every passenger travelling from the UK to France will need to complete a sworn declaration testifying that they have no COVID symptoms and have not been in contact with a confirmed case in the past 14 days.

TRAVELLING TO FRANCE VIA SWITZERLAND (Geneva Airport):

Whilst scientists work towards understanding the transmission of the new Omicron variant, the government has now decided to take stricter measures regarding COVID-19. It is hoped that once more is known about this variant, the situation may change more in our favour.

From 8pm on 26/11/21, the Swiss authorities have tightened entry rules to the country. The Swiss government website states that if arriving from a country on the list of countries with a variant of concern (UK included) then...

  • You must present a negative result from a PCR or antigen test on arrival in Switzerland if you are over 16 (even if you are vaccinated or recovered).

  • Everyone must complete an entry form (including children) and quarantine for 10 days.

  • You must report to the cantonal authority immediately, and have a PCR or rapid antigen test between day 4 and 7 after entry and inform the cantonal authority of the result.

However, when filling out the Swiss government Travel Check questionnaire to establish restrictions applying to vaccinated UK travellers arriving in Switzerland to immediately transit to France, it states they are exempt from testing and simply need to fill out an entry form with no mention of quarantine.

However the UK government's Foreign Travel Advice page for Switzerland states that you will need a test to enter the country and has recently updated its advice to say that transit to another country is allowed as long as travel through Switzerland is less than 24 hours and does not include a stopover. It is not 100% clear whether the test requirement applies to UK travellers who are just transiting Switzerland. It is best to check all up to date websites and be clear on the rules yourself before you travel.

It also states that non vaccinated travellers are not eligible to enter Switzerland unless they meet certain exemptions detailed on the web page.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

In summary, the information on entry requirements to Switzerland if you are transiting through to France vary from source to source and it seems very difficult at this time to find a clear answer. From experience, we have gathered that the best thing you can do is to check with your specific airline before you fly. We strongly urge you to do this before making your way to the airport.

OTHER CHANGES IN FRANCE:

In France, over 65's will be required to have a booster jab from the 15th December if it has been 7 months since their second jab. This rule will also apply to all over 18's as of the 15th January. Unfortunately, for the moment the NHS app provides no way to upload the booster jab certificate and so cannot be transferred to the French vaccine pass. There is a feeling that perhaps the vaccine pass along with a booster jab certificate will suffice, but this remains to be seen.

RETURNING TO THE UK:

When returning to the UK, you will need to fill out a passenger locator form, and take a PCR test. You will need to self-isolate until you receive a negative result.

THE PASS SANITAIRE (FRENCH COVID PASS):

As the number of cases has hit the pre-determined mark of 200/100,000 people, the pass sanitaire will now be required for all over 12's to use the 3 Valleys ski lifts from the 4th December. Systematic checks will be carried out at lift pass offices, and randomly throughout the ski area.

Masks are compulsory in lift queues and on gondolas/cable cars, but can be removed once on open chairlifts. They are not required whilst skiing or in other open, outdoor spaces. Social distancing is also obligatory and enforced in the lift queues.

You will need to present a pass sanitaire to eat/drink in restaurants (both outdoors and inside), and to enter other public spaces. Those who are fully vaccinated can download the 'Tous Anti Covid' app (available on the App Store and Google Play Store) and import their NHS certificate to show their vaccination status. Booster jab certificates from the NHS app should now also be importable. Simply go to 'Open my Wallet' on the French app, then 'Add my certificate' and scan your NHS QR code. More information can be found on the French government website.

CHILDREN OVER THE AGE OF 12

Please be aware that children over the age of 12 years and 2 months do require a pass sanitaire for these venues as well. Unfortunately, the recommended single dose of the Pfizer vaccine for children over 12 in the UK is not recognised as fully vaccinated in France (but the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine is).

So, as of the 1st of October 2021, these children with just a single Pfizer vaccine can obtain a pass sanitaire by presenting a negative PCR or lateral flow test, or evidence that they have had COVID within the past 6 months. Pharmacy testing centres will then generate a QR code which is valid for 24 hours. It is recognised that this presents difficulties, and the authorities are planning to open in-resort 'testing stations'- which includes the Health Centre in Les Menuires, understood to be open every day of the week.

We will monitor the situation very closely and keep you updated as often as we can to make understanding and following the rules as simple as possible for our guests.


'SC-Saint Martin' - Safety measures

  • MEET AND GREET
    We will give you the option between our personal 'Meet & Greet' service or a 'Contact-less' check-in.
    All our chalets are equipped with lock-boxes meaning you are able to let yourself into the accommodation without having to meet us in person.
    Nevertheless we are available 24/7 if any questions or issues arise!
    When meeting any of our guests, we will wear masks and respect all social distancing measures.
  • CLEANING
    Extra precautions in relation to cleaning and disinfection methods will be put in place to ensure your safety.
    Additional disinfecting hand-wash and spray will be provided in all of our chalets/apartments.


Covid resort measures

To be ready for every possibility, the ski resort of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville has put in place a series of measures so that your holiday at the mountain is solely one of happiness and is an opportunity for you to recharge your batteries and have fun with your friends and family.

All measures are explained on the very helpful image by 'France Montagnes' below. These measures are going to be in place in all ski resorts in France.

These measures may be updated for the 21/22 winter season.

The practice of snow sliding sports is an outdoor practice, where the equipment (gloves, skis, ski poles...) favours social distancing measures.

*NEW* Travel insurance cover for COVID

After scouring the web hours on end for an insurance company that can provide reassurance and cover for our guests this winter, we are pleased to have finally found a company, who specialises in ski-related insurance, that have launched a new product with Comprehensive Covid cover. They are called 'SKI COVER' and currently seem to be the only ones on the market offering travel, cancellation and Covid-related insurance, all the whilst covering you on the ski slopes this winter.

All persons under 65 can currently get cover for the following cases:

  • - Cover when travelling against FCDO for 'All' and 'All but essential travel' when relating to Covid
  • - Cover for cancellation if you catch Covid within 14 days of departure date or if hospitalised within 28 days of your departure
  • - Cover if you are denied boarding due to a Covid diagnosis or medical / temperature test which falls outside the transport provider's normal limits
  • - Cover for medical expenses related to Covid if you catch it whilst abroad in Europe
  • - Medical and repatriation costs
  • - Cancellation or curtailment of trip
  • - Ski and equipment cover
  • - Mountain repatriation
