Why our guests return year after year

Self Catered – Saint Martin

Self-Catered – Saint Martin is in an enviable position. Guests return to our chalets and St Martin de Belleville year after year. We wanted to take a moment to see what is driving this success story.

St Martin de Belleville is located in the snowsure ‘Three Valleys’

St Martin de Belleville is positioned at the entrance of The Three Valleys ski domain. The Three Valleys in the Northern French Alps is the world’s largest connected ski area. It is at high altitude and has snow-sure terrain with 85% of the runs being above 1800 m.

The domain has 180 lifts, 600 km of skiing on 330 marked, well-groomed pistes, and home to Europe’s highest ski resort, Val Thorens, with its highest lift taking skiers and boards up to 3200 m. To give holidaymakers even greater confidence in the area there are 2000 snow canons for those slightly pesky days early and late season, and it is commonplace for skiers and boarders to try a different resort every day of the week.

The tourist office in Val Thorens has issued a ‘Snow Guarantee’ in recent years, which challenges you to find any other resort in Europe that can match VT’s quality and quantity of snow. You can’t mock their confidence: For starters, this is the highest ski resort in Europe at a giddying 2300m. Additionally, there is the fact that 99% of the area is above 2000m… including skiable glaciers – Péclet and Thorens – as well as the summit of the 3 Valleys, Pointe du Bouchet at 3230m. The top bits get something like six metres of snowfall each season (that’s enough to bury a 2-storey house), and on the rare occasion that any of the slopes are lacking, 350 cannons are able to cover 40% of the pistes.

One of the most charming ski villages in France

St Martin de Belleville is nothing like the other ski towns and villages in The Three Valleys. It is a traditional and authentic Savoyard village where residents live and work all year round. Still unspoilt and totally charming with narrow cobbled streets, an old church, and traditional buildings mixed with lovely restaurants and ambient French bars. Without a doubt, Foodies will be spoilt for choice in this wonderful village. St Martin de Belleville has become a resort synonymous with a friendly atmosphere and gourmet cuisine.

Home to La Bouitte, the first Savoyard restaurant to gain 3 Michelin stars, and some great farm-to-table restaurants. The village has gained a reputation as the gastronomic capital of the Les 3 Vallées.

It’s the little brother with all the big connections

The eight-person gondola installed for the 2020/21 ski season whisks skiers up to mid-station 35% faster than in previous years. The 6-person Express chairlift will complete the journey to the top of the mountain just a few minutes later.

St Martin de Belleville is part of the Three Valleys generous infrastructure of ski-lifts and marked pistes. It connects the large ski stations at Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Meribel-Mottaret and Courchevel with one another, and the more traditional skiing locations at La Tania and Brides les Bains.

gentle wide runs boost the confidence of beginners

Beginners can start on the dedicated nursery slope with two magic carpets, running parallel to the main gondola out of St Martin de Belleville and can then progress onto the easy blue runs from the top of ‘Tougnete’ and start to explore the rest of the epic Three Valleys.

Extensive variety for intermediate skiers and boarders

Intermediates will find endless opportunities to explore above St Martin de Belleville and on to the whole Three Valleys. Additionally, there are extensive slopes within easy access because of the fast and efficient lift network. The slopes above Les Menuires on the west-facing side have plenty to offer intermediate skiers, mostly blue and red runs.

Deep and steep for experts

Expert skiers and snowboarders will be entertained with a choice of moguls, steep blacks, and some of the best off-piste in the world in just about every corner of the Three Valleys. Head to the upper slopes of La Masse to avoid the crowds and find steeper slopes. Furthermore, It also has some of the best snow in the 3 Valleys.

To finish the day, you can ski back to the village on some beautifully gentle on or off-piste tracks from the top of the Olympique Express lift.
